About 70 years ago, plastic revolutionized the mass production of goods and changed how the world would operate. As the world grew and developed so did this ‘fast paced mentality’ that we must rise, excel, and be the best- no slowing down!
With how fast the world was moving, consumers began heavily depending on the convenience of single-use items. It’s from these unhealthy habits that the ‘throw away’ society was born. What we later realized, was that these throw away items that were designed to use only for minutes, ironically can last in our environment forever.
Each year over 300 million tons of plastic are produced and half of this number contributes to the production of single-use items. The world is producing and consuming more plastic than we know what to do with, and because of this traces of plastic are showing up in all corners of the world. Plastic pollution can be found at the highest point of the Himalayas to the deepest depths of the Mariana Trench.
Join the Movement!
This month our team is participating in Plastic Free July, a global movement aimed to raise awareness on plastic pollution. Millions of people around the world join each year by taking the pledge to reduce their own plastic waste.
While individual actions can seem ineffective it’s these measured acts that help motivate and inspire those around us. When we take action we begin to create ripples within our own communities and its these ripples that create WAVES!
